In this “newsworthy” article on CNN, we are told that Oscar De La Renta is angry at Michelle Obama. Why? Because she doesn’t wear enough designer clothing and sticks to “middle class” J-Crew. He further says that the fashion industry in America is in trouble and she should support it more.
First off, Big O. You’re a sexist fool, for suggesting that that fashion industry should be on the table for The First Lady’s Agenda.
Second, Big O, you’re a fool for suggesting that a 300.00 cardigan isn’t fashion forward enough.
Third, Big O, you’re the one who is out of touch if you contradict yourself by saying that the fashion industry is in trouble,without realizing what the same article mentions. These 300.00 “middle class” sweaters sold out at vitrually every J-crew store and online, just hours after she wore it. Now yes, that may mean that 3 people didn’t get to purchase a 10,000 high fashion item that she could have worn, but if my math skills are correct, we’re talking hundreds and hundreds of 300.00 items purchased by “middle America”. I think that makes more economic sense than your notion that she should only wear…lets say…Oscar De La Renta. I think she is “spuring the fashion industry” more than you are at this junction, and it’s not her #1 priority.
This is an inherent problem with celebrities with money and their criticism with Obama, both male and female. It’s easy to point fingers at shortcomings from a perch full of money and safety. It’s easy to question someone who is constantly under the most pressure imaginable.
Stick to 10,000.00 shirts Oscar, and let The Obama’s stick to running the country.
